How do young offenders see the juvenile justice system (JJS)? how do they see their offence? what should be done when an under 18 person commits gender based violence?
These are some of the questions we will explore through games and theatrical tools to work on the problems they see in the JJS, to collect proposals to improve it. The theatrical material collected will then be brought to the people who work in the JJS, judges, social workers, NGO’s for a legislative theatre process to improve this system actually giving very few results, if any.
The project will also work on the responsibility of the perpetrators, recognising, naming and taking responsibility of their violence. Becoming able to recognise the triggers and moments when it is being chosen. Developing emotional intelligence, capacity to regulate emotions and to feel the other’s, not to mention developing empathy.
This project is part of a bigger project that aims at reinforcing the network of people working with young offenders.
