Legislative theatre training in Rome

13 May 2023 - 14 May 2023

Did you know there is a kind of theatre that allows to vote a budget, some laws or the infrastructures of a city?

Legislative theatre is a form of theatre where citizen show on stage their issues and invite audiences to propose solutions, strategies, proposals, policies. Parteciparte has used many forms of legislative theatre, voting a budget to tackle violence or other local issues in an area of Rome, or voting how people want their access to water in Tanzania considering with climate change a well is often not an option anymore in Dar es Salam. But it also means developing theatre sessions with governments, having political leaders go into the shoes of those who are oppressed, it means voting proposals after having explored all the consequences of each policy. It means changing the rules and following up with those who have power, be they politicians, directors having the power to change a non efficient policy against sexual harassment for instance. It means theatre is a part of the process, but a very important one: “the rehearsal of a revolution”.

The training will take place in Rome and will be in Italian.

2 performances will be offered. One on the evening of the 12th of may at 9.00 pm. One at the end of the training on the 14th of may at 6.30 pm.
